Based in Oxfordshire, this 1930’s property was in need of some love, and to make it more functional for a family who love to entertain.

The design inspiration was heavily influenced by reference photography of a 1930’s residential entrance hall from an adjacent property, as well as
Japanese and Scandinavian themes. The client was also dedicated to honouring the heritage of the property, approaching renovations with a sense of custodianship.  

With a passion for food and cooking, the kitchen was required to be aspirational and high performing. Whilst of course focusing on the user experience and functional performance, the space needed to be visually aesthetic and in keeping with the rest of the property. A strong love for walnut throughout, the baby grand piano in the same dark tones sits just across the hall creating a cohesive flow between rooms.  

The client’s goal for the cabinet handles was for them to blend in, achieving a minimalist look so visually there wasn't much clutter. This meant the eye could be drawn to the natural wood grain and the marble worktop. Jon briefed our team with a drawing of an L shaped handle and once the profile was signed off, this was then created in a solid walnut wood. It was important to ensure it was durable enough for the daily pressures, especially on appliances such as the dishwasher where more force is required to open and close.  

Paired with a stunning marble worktop, this walnut kitchen exudes warmth and elegance. The overall feel is inviting and sophisticated and it was a pleasure to create.
