The Grand Designs Kitchen

Set in the Bedfordshire countryside, 'Le Grand Grange' is a breath taking barn conversion that was featured on Grand Designs.

Sarah and Pip originally wanted to build a property from scratch, but trying to find the right plot during the pandemic was proving difficult. When they found and viewed this barn it was love at first sight, despite being a 'total wreck and falling down'! Enticed with the land, the barn being in a pond and the setting, they set out on an ambitious renovation to turn it into a stunning modern home.

As the property neared completion, costs were mounting and the budget for the kitchen was tight. They turned to IKEA for design but struggled to find door options that matched their vision. That’s when they discovered Foxstow online. Our seamless process, providing a product list from their IKEA METOD plan and pre-drilling hinge locations, made ordering easy. To stay within budget, Sarah and Pip opted for bare doors, though they later admitted they wished they had chosen fully finished ones to save time and effort on painting and to get a factory finish. While the natural choice for a barn conversion might have been a traditional country farmhouse aesthetic, they envisioned a more contemporary direction for the property and chose a mixture of our Slimline and Reeded Slimline Doors for their kitchen.

‘We wanted something slightly different and I found the reeded doors on your website which is an interesting take on a shaker but a slightly more modern take. It’s you know, really beautiful, just takes the light differently, gives you a bit of visual interest. The team were just phenomenal, just amazing. It was such an easy buying experience which was great. So we are absolutely delighted, couldn’t be happier'.

Although the kitchen was just one element of this incredible transformation, it was a pleasure to be part of Sarah and Pip’s journey.

At Foxstow, we cater to all budgets, whether you're looking for a fully bespoke kitchen, or doors for IKEA, Howdens or custom cabinetry, painted, primed or bare, there is something for everyone.
